Malia's Learning Commitment

Congratulations to Malia who did a wonderful job sharing her learning commitment goal with us today.  Malia taught the class how to make sushi then she shared a delicious big platter with us.  Everyone loved eating the sushi!  Thanks Malia (and Malia's Dad!)








Making Reusable Bags

Miss Lewis has been helping us this week to design and create our own reusable bag.  Miss Lewis has taught the children lots of important things using our 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' topic.



School Fair

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our School Fair on Saturday.  It was lovely to see many of the Room 4 children visiting the Junior Team stall.



Recycled Crayons

Mrs McCulley found a big box of broken crayons so we decided to reduce, reuse and recycle them.  We put the crayons into trays and melted them in the oven.  Our recycled crayons turned out amazing!  We are going to sell them at the School Fair for 50 cents each.






S.T.E.A.M. Activities

Buzzy & Louis

Louis had a fun weekend with Buzzy.  They celebrated Louis' mum's birthday, played the recorder and had a sleepover.  Buzzy even found some honey!


Bernard Mangakahia Visits GSNS

Today we went to the hall to see Bernard Mangakahia performing.  He told us stories, sang a rap and shared some groovy dancing.  We got to dance too!  Bernard taught us about resilience and reminded us to keep trying no matter what!

Polyfest

Our school Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups are getting ready to perform at this year's Polyfest.  This afternoon we watched them perform.  They were amazing!



Māori Language Week



This week is Māori Language Week.  This morning we enjoyed singing our National Anthem in Māori and we are learning to use sign language as well!

Buzzy and Odin

Buzzy enjoyed his weekend adventures with Odin.  They played games, watched gymnastics and even went to the Waitati Market with Odin's Grandma.  Thanks for taking care of Buzzy, Odin.


Raffle Tickets

Special Visitors from the Dunedin College of Education

Today we had 30 visitors in our classroom!  We had a big group of first year students from the Dunedin College of Education.  They were learning how to ask us questions and find out about our number knowledge.


Beeswax Wraps

Our Beeswax Wraps are now finished and are ready to sell at the School Fair.  If you would like to preorder your wrap, please fill in the order form that came home today.  You are welcome to come and look at our wraps hanging in the classroom.






Making Beeswax Wraps

We have had fun making Beeswax Wraps in our classroom.  We have been learning how we can reuse these wraps in our lunchbox and that they are so much better for our environment than cling wrap.  First we planned our wrap then Mrs McCulley helped us to make it.  Check out the photos below:
