It's Cool To Be Kind

In Room 4 "It's cool to be kind!"  We have written stories about all the different ways we can be kind to other people.  Come into our classroom and see our beautiful work!

Wacky Hair or Mad Hat Day

Tomorrow (Thursday 23rd May) is 'Wacky Hair' or 'Mad Hat' Day.  This is being held to gather items for our school fair later in the year.  Children in the junior school are asked to bring along packets of food for cooking (eg pasta, rice, noodles).  I wonder what the children will look like tomorrow!

Buzzy & Amelia

Buzzy had an exciting time with Amelia this weekend.  He got to visit Toitū Museum!  Thanks for entertaining Buzzy on a cold Dunedin weekend Amelia.

Kindness in Action!

This term our character value is kindness.  To celebrate 'Support Staff Day' we made a special book for our office lady, Trish.  We thanked her for all the wonderful things she does at George Street Normal School.  We all enjoyed being kind!

The Tortoise and the Hare

On Friday we watched a funny show called 'The Tortoise and the Hare'.  It was performed by the NZ Playhouse.

Buzzy and Maggie

Last weekend, Buzzy had a wonderful weekend with Maggie.  Maggie took Buzzy to the football and to a show.  On Mother's Day, he went to see the butterflies and played at Discovery World.  What a lucky bee!

Learning Our Mihi

In preparation for our visit to the marae, we are learning our mihi.  We have been learning about how to introduce ourselves in Māori and talking about mountains, lakes/rivers and places that are special to us.  We have made some special artwork representing our mountain, lake/river and our whanau (family).

A notice was sent home last week to gather information for our mihi.  It would be most appreciated if you could fill this out with your child and return it to school.  Thank you!

Welcome to Mr Theis

A special welcome to Mr Andre Theis who is a second year student at the Dunedin College of Education/University of Otago.  Mr Theis will be with Room 4 for the next two weeks.

Our Wonder Wall

Yesterday we watched a video about a group of people visiting a marae.  We have lots of questions that we would like to know the answer to.  We will be investigating the answers to our questions over the next few weeks.  Please come into our classroom and see our 'Wonder Wall' full of wonderings!

Buzzy & Riyan

Buzzy had a wonderful time with Riyan this weekend.  He watched Riyan play soccer and win the game.  Well done, Riyan!

Amna turns 7!

Happy Birthday Amna!  Amna is the first child in Room 4 to turn 7 years old this year.  Amna's mum and dad kindly brought in birthday cake and juice and we celebrated at morning tea time today.
